Poshmark platform guide
Poshmark photo size and portrait listing photos
Get the photo size Poshmark recommends, the number of photos you can add and what the portrait 3:4 cover photo means for square photos, plus a short checklist before you list.
Poshmark lets you take or upload up to 16 photos for a listing and suggests sizing images to 1000 x 1000 pixels for optimal quality. Since its March 2026 app update, cover photos display in portrait 3:4 instead of square 1:1 across search and the feed.
The values below come from Poshmark’s own help center and official blog. Poshmark can change them, so open the current pages again before a large batch of listings.

01 · Current values
Poshmark photo size, ratio and photo count at a glance
These are the photo values Poshmark publishes for listings. Where Poshmark does not publish a value, the table says so instead of filling the gap.
| Field | Poshmark value | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Recommended size | 1000 x 1000 pixels for optimal quality | Treat 1000 pixels as the short side to aim for. For a 3:4 portrait photo, that means about 1000 x 1334 pixels or larger (our calculation, not a Poshmark value). |
| Cover photo display | Portrait 3:4 in search and the feed (some devices label it 4:3) | Shoot with your phone’s default portrait orientation so the cover photo fills the frame without manual cropping. |
| Square photos | Still shown in full on the listing page; framed into portrait in search and the feed | A square cover photo may be slightly adjusted in the feed. Keep important parts away from the top and bottom edges, or switch the cover to a portrait photo. |
| Number of photos | Up to 16 photos per listing | Use the extra photos for the back, labels, close-ups of fabric or hardware and any wear the buyer should see. |
| Maximum file size and formats | Not published on the Poshmark pages checked | Upload standard phone photos. If a file will not upload, re-export it as a JPEG and try again rather than relying on a third-party limit. |

02 · Portrait framing
How Poshmark recommends framing a 3:4 photo
Poshmark’s tips for the portrait format focus on keeping the whole item visible and well framed across the feed and listing page.
Center the item
Center your item vertically and horizontally so it displays well in the feed.
Fill the frame
Fill the frame with your item, either full-length or as a close-up, while leaving a slight space around the edges.
Show the full item
Avoid cutting off key parts such as hems, sleeves or straps.
Light and background
Use bright, even lighting to show true color and detail, and keep the background clean and uncluttered.
Full shots and close-ups
Highlight important details with a mix of full shots and close-ups, and keep angles consistent across photos for a more polished look.
03 · Existing listings
What the 3:4 change means for square photos
Poshmark moved cover photos from square to portrait in March 2026. Its FAQ explains what happens to listings that were photographed before the change.
No action needed
Old listings keep their original photos
Your square photos are preserved, and shoppers can open the listing to see the original image. Updating cover photos is optional.
Feed and search
Square covers are framed into portrait
Photos in search and the feed display in portrait, which may slightly adjust square photos. Review your best-selling listings and replace a cover only where an important part is cut off.
Listing on desktop
Use crop and zoom when needed
On desktop, photos display in a portrait frame automatically. Poshmark’s crop and zoom tools let you adjust how the photo appears.
App and web
Expect small differences during the rollout
Poshmark notes the app update is rolling out gradually, so the app and desktop may look different until the rollout is complete.
04 · Using MakeAD images
Check MakeAD output against Poshmark’s values before you list
MakeAD turns one product photo into new clean or lifestyle images. Here is how its output relates to the values above.
01Single-purpose tools export at 1K
Tools such as product staging and background removal export at the 1K setting. Open the downloaded file and compare its pixel dimensions with Poshmark’s 1000 x 1000 tip, and do not stretch it to look like a larger photo. Product staging exports a 4:5 frame, which Poshmark will fit into its 3:4 portrait frame, so keep space at the sides.
02The homepage generator offers 3:4 and 2K or 4K settings
Choose the 3:4 aspect ratio to match the Poshmark cover frame. Higher resolution settings use more credits. Whichever setting you choose, check the exported pixel dimensions yourself.
03Generated scenes support, the real item proves
When an item is pre-owned, buyers judge the exact piece. Keep real photos of the item you will ship, including labels and any wear, and compare every generated image with your source photo so color, shape and details match.
05 · Final photo check
Check your Poshmark photos before you list
Check the exact photos you are about to upload, not an earlier working version.
Size
Each photo is sharp at Poshmark’s suggested 1000 pixels or more on the short side, and was not stretched from a smaller file.
Cover photo
The cover is portrait 3:4 or has enough space above and below the item that nothing important is cut off in the feed.
Whole item
Hems, sleeves, straps and other key parts are inside the frame, on a clean, uncluttered background.
Photo set
The listing uses no more than 16 photos, with a mix of full shots and close-ups at consistent angles.
Selling elsewhere too
Each marketplace sets its own photo rules. Re-check the same photos against eBay’s requirements before reusing them there.

Frequently asked questions
These answers cover the exceptions and review tests that still depend on context.
What size should Poshmark photos be?
Poshmark’s help center suggests sizing images to 1000 x 1000 pixels for optimal quality. Cover photos now display in portrait 3:4, so a portrait photo with at least 1000 pixels on the short side fills the frame well.
Are Poshmark photos square or 3:4?
Since Poshmark’s March 2026 update, cover photos display in portrait 3:4 instead of square 1:1 in search and the feed. Square photos are still shown in full on the listing page.
How many photos can I add to a Poshmark listing?
You can take or upload up to 16 photos of the item for each listing.
Do I need to reshoot my old square listings?
No. Poshmark says existing listings keep working as they are and shoppers can still see the original photos. You can update cover photos to portrait if you prefer, but it is not required.
